Partners In Education

A collaboration of parents, community members, and educators working to help improve public education in Fairfield.

Public Schools Going Private

BACKGROUND:

Our school administration has stopped keeping written records of what’s discussed at closed door meetings of administrators of both high schools. While meeting agendas show that high school administrators have been meeting regularly to discuss issues of concern to parents, like high school students’ class rank, administrators have stopped keeping minutes of these meetings. Click here for agendas.

Ms. B. Dyer in the Superintendent’s Office writes : “Yes, there are agendas for the Administrative Team meetings. No minutes are kept of these meetings.”

Just last year, the FLHS/FWHS Administrative Team recorded minutes of their meetings, which appear to be held monthly at the end of the school day at one of the high schools.

In fact, parents saw minutes of these administrative meetings last year. When parents were unable to obtain answers about grade weighting changes from our school district personnel, parents were able to see the minutes of those FLHS/FWHS administrative team meetings after filing Freedom of Information Act requests. Click here for last year’s minutes.

PARENTS ASK TO SEE DATA COLLECTED

Now, in response to parents’ pleas for better communication, our administrators have stopped recording what they’re discussing and deciding at their meetings. Instead of improving communication with parents and the community, our school district has gone silent.
