Connecticut restaurants are a major aspect of what makes the area great and there’s no shortage of incredible seafood, pizzerias, sushi and more. 2021 was a big year for new beginnings so without further ado here’s our favorite places we tried specific to this year.
Averna Steakhouse, Rye, NY
Over the border in Rye, Chef Carlos del Cid nails premier steaks and seafood plated with flair. The restaurant features bottles of Caymus on the walls, a romantic atmosphere for date nights and distinguished setting for must-impress business meetings. Chef Carlos’ dishes are always impeccable and the service is bar none.
Tao Asian Bistro at Mohegan Sun, Uncasville, CT
Hands down one of the best meals we’ve had….ever - at any Tao in the country. Tao has a reputation for a sexy and exciting environment and the location and music was fantastic. The food offers everything from small bites to sake, sushi and entrees for the serious high-rollers. Do not leave without getting the Tao fortune cookie, Spicy Tuna Tartare on Crispy Rice, Lobster Wontons in a Shitake Ginger Broth or Lobster Fried rice!
Blackrock Social House, Bridgeport, CT
Featuring international comfort food with an emphasis on gluten-free cuisine - Blackrock Social House will knock your socks off. Also, you’ll have no idea anything’s gluten-free - including the pastas or mac and cheese.
The spirited gastropub offers indulgent noshes - think Mexican dips, short rib tacos and braised escargot but what sets the restaurant apart is their global dinner series. Each month, the restaurant unveils a new menu offering from a different location from across the globe. So much research and vetting goes into planning these monthly dinner experiences and they are beyond incredible.
